- What is hippiecraft.net?
Hippiecraft.net is a non-profit charity community I started in November 2012. We are always looking for new members that is interested in playing Minecraft to raise money for charity. Right now we have three Minecraft servers, one FTB server running Unleashed v1.1.3 + Gregtech, one vanilla survivor server v1.7.2 and one vanilla creative server v1.7.2. All of our servers are white-list protected, but we are planning to set up a fourth server running vanilla survival that will be open to anyone. The non-protected server will be a fan-server once we have a large enough fan-base to actually benefit from having it running.
- Why should I join your server instead of another one?
Our goal is to be able to raise money for charity, and we need a lot of players to be able to do streams and LP's as often as possible. We are also a mature community with friendly staff and good atmosphere. That being said, there is nothing that keeps you from choosing another server to play on, but if you chose us, you'll know you are playing for a good cause.
- Are there any limitations for joining?
Yes, we want to keep the server mature, so we are looking for people that can behave properly and won't create havoc on the servers. As a rule of thumb, you should be over 15 to apply, but this is not a requirement directly. I've seen countless times that some people in the age of 10-14 can behave a ton more mature than someone in the age of 15-18. More information on the limitations can be found on our forum linked to below. Note that there is no limits on joining the community itself, only the servers.
- How can you afford to keep three Minecraft servers operative when you are a non-profit charity community?
Since not a single cent that we raise for charity goes to us in any way, I am financing the servers completely myself. We are however working on some kind of solution that will let people choose if they want to donate directly to charity, or through us so we can keep a small percentage for server upkeep. Though for now nothing goes to us, nor is that an option.
- I want to learn more, where can I find information about your community and the charity you are involved with?
You can visit our forum for more information in general, or you can visit our charity website for information about the cause we are involved with, or you may want to check out or website, though not yet complete.
- How many people do your servers support?
Although not tested at full capacity yet, the FTB server is capped at 32 players. Both the vanilla survivor and creative servers are capped at 64 players. Our servers runs on a hex-core Intel i7 with 16GB RAM and 800GB HDD.
- How long will the worlds on the different servers be kept before they are reset?
The FTB server is in the process of upgrading to a custom private pack running Minecraft v1.6.4. When this happens, that world will be reset. Both the vanilla survivor and creative server worlds will never be reset unless Mojang releases an update that forces us to reset it for some reason.
