We are using a server hosted by a third party with a Min E3-1245v2 @ 3.8GhZ processor and 4GB RAM on an SSD. We started this within the week and have disabled Mystcraft. We are now severely reducing the radius of chunkloaders, but have also ensured that they are turned off via redstone signals when not in use.

We are idling around 67% with one player connected and would like to reduce this, as we are a group of 9 with a self-imposed player limit of 10. What are some things that we can do to reduce CPU usage?

Also, are we able to safely update to the newest stable version of Direwolf20 without having to regenerate the world we are on? The update came out two days after we started the server.

What are the ramifications of disabling Biomes o' Plenty after a world has been generated? Will the map be rendered unusable?

Hm, 67% sounds like a lot to me -- how much is it using without anybody connected?

Also, I think you should be able to update your modpack -- just make sure to back up first just in case.

And if you started the world on the normal worldtype, there shouldn't be too many problems disabling Biomes O' Plenty. If the world is generated with the BoP worldtype however, there may be slight problems, as of course the mod also adds its own blocks.

I want to say that without anyone connected it idles ~45%. Right now we have 6 players on and exactly 50% cpu usage. I have no idea why it's fluctuating so badly.

Try creating a new world and see how much of the CPU that uses up.

Then try having one player on it, and see how much that uses.

We updated to 1.10 and are idling around 63%. We were suggested to remove FTB Utilities, and that may be a culprit.

We've also had a few crashes that I believe may be CPU overload, however, it spit errors that I'm not sure are concurrent with that theory.
