I am currently running a private server with only two people on the server (including me) but my friend is currently experiencing a lot of lag and i am unsure of what is causing it. i am running the server on a iMac mid 2011 6GB is dedicated to the server. i am playing on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) 2GB dedicated to running the game. and my friend is still experiencing a lot of lag (rubber banding mainly but other lag is present) can someone please help me?

There could be so many things.

• How far away are you to each other?
• What computer is your friend using?
• How fast is their wifi connection?
• Are they running other network-intensive programs/tabs on their computer?
• How much lag are you experiencing?
• Is there anything in the log that might be of use?

I hope the question will be solved soon, but around this neck of the woods there aren't many questions about server connection, but rather about crashes and such.

My friend is in the next town to me which is only about 5 minutes away.

My friends lap top is a Sony VAIO VGN-CS230J/R 14.4-inch Laptop.

Their internet speeds are 20mb/s download and 7mb/s upload.

They aren't running any other programs at all.

I am experiencing no lag at all it is all at his end.

There is no log which could help since the server is running fine at my end.

Is there any other device that they have that they could test the existence of the lag on? An alternative would be for you to go over there or for him to come to you, and test that out.

 

Also, how are his speeds with other servers?

 

And maybe throw in his ping too.
