Hey i have been playing with the feed the beast mod packs lately. I have come across a problem when i tried to lunch the launcher a couple of days ago. I was playing on the FTB launcher a couple of days before and it was working fine then this happened. I double clicked on the launcher icon and it didn't do anything.. I left it there for a good 10 minutes and nothing happened. Nothing popped up on the screen, just nothing. I tried restarting the computer and still had the same problem, I have been looking for an answer to fix this but i haven't found anything. Can anyone please help. I really want to get back to my Agrarian skies world

Check your antivirus log, try running FTB 'as administrator' (via right-click), try reinstalling the FTB launcher, try updating to the latest Java 7... I haven't heard of this problem before, but those are some ideas you might try.

hm.. i've had the same issue the last few weeks. sortof..

 

 

The first few times I did't think the launcher started at all, and for some reason (probabbly related) my computer seemed to slow down,
but when finaly checking the task manager after several reboots, I found the ftblauncher did launch even there was no other indication of this.
And after about 5-10 minutes after starting the ftblauncher my computer slowed to a crawl.
Tryed lots of things to figure out what was causing it to act like this.
No console window or anything
The FTBLauncherLog.txt file however was updating, where i found that the launcher had some problems determining what java version to use,
several info lines about javaFinder.parseJavaVersion.. something.. something..
And a error output override, and then  ->

 [ERROR] OutputOverride.write:45: From Console: jul 27, 2014 5:31:20 PM java.util.prefs.WindowsPreferences <init> WARNING: Could not open/create prefs root node Software\JavaSoft\Prefs at root 0x80000002. Windows RegCreateKeyEx(...) returned error code 5

 

After about 15 minutes where seemingly nothing happened, suddenly a black rectangle (soon to be the loading banner) appeared.
about 5 minutes later the console window showed up with the text that it allready had written to the .txt file.
However my computer was so laggy it took about 2 minutes to open a new window in my web browser (chrome).
Thought it might be some java crash, but no matter what i tryed to close down before i started the launcher the same happened.
So i've had this issue a coupple of weeks, where the launcher takes about 45 minutes to lauch.
As soon as the launcher is compleetly up and running everything works great. (Its just the launcher that has this issue.

Untill today, The launcher loaded in seconds.
The only thing different today was that i closed down spotify completely, before i launched the FTBLauncher.
I hope spotify is to blame. :P if this is the case it's an easy fix. no more spotify.. ^^ 
Other than that i don't know.
Might or might not be helpfull..
Seemes to have solved the issue for me. (for now at least) 

 

EDIT: Never mind..  :P it started happening again.. annoying.

As you can see by the time-stamps the computer really slows down when starting the launcher.
but at 15:44:40 everything seems to pick back up and start running normal again.

 

And as i said in my previous post yesterday it took barely a second, today half an hour more or less the same as the last coupple weeks.

What is Error code 5 (at time-stamp 15:14:43) ?

Since this is a separate issue, you really should have just created a new thread, but my suggestions from above can apply to your situation too. In your case, you may also want to try moving your FTB launcher to your C drive, in case your D drive is somehow the problem.
